GREENSBORO, N.C. - Five Cavaliers have been named to the 2010 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Team, as announced by league commissioner John Swofford today. Sophomore Kevin Anding, senior Alex Bowman, graduate student Steve Delice, junior Sean Keveren and senior Trey Miller have all been honored and are each making their first appearance on the conference’s all-academic outdoor team.

Anding, an economics major from Houston, Texas, was a regional qualifier in the 400m this season. A member of the Cavaliers’ 4x400m relay team that earned All-ACC honors with a third-place finish at the conference meet, he was also a member of the 4x4 squad that won the Lou Onesty Invitational. He won the 200m at the season-opening Mason Quadrangular and advanced to the finals of the open 400m at ACCs, finishing sixth. His personal-best time of 46.84 from the IC4A Championships ranks third on Virginia’s all-time program records, while his time of 21.34 in the 200m from the same meet ranks ninth.

Bowman, a 2010 graduate with a degree in international political philosophy, advanced to the finals of the 800m and the 1500m at the ACC Championships this season. The Richmond, Va., native finished third in the 1500m to earn his first All-ACC honor in the event, before taking fourth in the 800m. He was also a member of the Cavaliers’ 4x800m relay team that won the Championship of America relay title at the Penn Relays. He concluded his career at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, where he finished 16th in the 1500m.

Delice, born in Port-de-Paix, Haiti, wrapped up his career with one season of outdoor eligibility for the Cavaliers and earned a master’s degree in educational psychology. A 2009 graduate of Coppin State, Delice was a 2007 All-American in the 400m hurdles and a 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American while competing for the Eagles. This year for UVa, Delice advanced to the NCAA Championships in the 400m hurdles and finished runner-up in the event at the ACC Championships. He also won the Lou Onesty Invitational and his second IC4A Championship in the 400m hurdles, in addition to the 100m at the Mason Quadrangular. Delice holds both Coppin State’s (50.24) and Virginia’s (50.02) program records in the 400m hurdles, in addition to the Haiti national record – running 50.02 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA East Preliminary Round.

Keveren, a kinesiology major from Brentwood, Tenn., wrapped up his season competing in the 5k at the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Earlier in the year, Keveren broke Virginia’s Lou Onesty meet record in the 3000m, winning the event in a personal-best time of 8:27.47. He also raced in the Olympic Development section of the 5000m at the Penn Relays, finishing runner-up in his best-ever time of 14:10.00.

Miller, a 2010 graduate with a degree in foreign affairs, wrapped up his career earning his first all-conference honor with a third-place finish in the 10,000m at the ACC Championships. A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Miller was a regional qualifier in the distance event this year. His personal-best time of 29:14.21 from Stanford this season ranks third on Virginia’s all-time program records.

Eleven of the 12 ACC schools are represented on this year’s all-academic team, with Florida State leading the way with six selections. North Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest each have five, while Clemson, Duke and Virginia Tech have four honorees each.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 GPA during the spring semester and own the same cumulative mark throughout their career.
