July 2, 2014

CHARLOTTESVILLE - Eleven members of the Virginia men's and women's track and field teams were named to the All-ACC Academic Outdoor Track & Field Teams, the conference announced Wednesday. The Cavalier men had six honorees and the women had five honorees, who were recognized for succeeding both academically and athletically.

All three of the Cavaliers who earned first-team All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, freshman thrower Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and triple jumpers Dallas Rose (Pearland, Texas) and Ryan Satchell (Central Islip, N.Y.), were selected to the teams. Second-team All-American Thomas Porter (Fredericksburg, Va.) was named to the team for the second consecutive year.

Joining Mihaljevic, Porter and Satchell on the men's team were David Bartha (Bonyhad, Hungary), Christian Lavorgna (Jefferson, N.J.) and Adam Visokay (Ruckersville, Va.). It was the second career honor for the Lavorgna and the first for Bartha and Visokay.

Rose was joined on the women's team by two-time honorees Peyton Chaney (Belleville, Ill.) and Barbara Strehler (Richmond, Va.). Jen Flack (Alexandria, Va.) and Edy Ndem (Roanoke, Va.) earned their first career All-ACC Academic awards.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his or her academic career.
