Nine Cavaliers Named USTFCCCA Track and Field All-Academic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Nine members of the Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track and Field All-Academic Team, the organization announced Thursday (July 28).

Graduate students William Gray (Birmingham, England), Iona Lake (Norwich, England) and Aisha Naibe-Wey (London, England), senior Christian Lavorgna (Jefferson, N.J.), junior Cleo Boyd (Kingston, Ontario), sophomores Caroline Clark (Washington, D.C.), Jack Lint (Westerville, Ohio) and Megan Rebholz (Stafford, Va.) and freshman Emily Mulhern (Ijamsville, Md.) were all honored. In addition, the Cavalier women’s team was named a USTFCCCA Track and Field All-Academic Team.

The group of nine Cavaliers accumulated three ACC titles and seven All-ACC Track and Field honors. Boyd was named the ACC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year and won the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the ACC Outdoor Championships. Lake captured the mile title at the ACC Indoor Championships.



To qualify for the USTFCCCA Track and Field All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of two athletic standards. For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).

For a team to qualify, a squad must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 during the most recent grading period.
