Virginia Releases Men's 2017 Cross Country Schedule

Aug. 9, 2017

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.– The Virginia men’s cross country team announced its 2017 schedule on Wednesday (Aug. 9). The Cavaliers will host two home meets in addition to the Southeast Regional Championships.

“We are returning a very experienced group of guys that had a successful season last year and are adding a strong group of new faces,” men’s cross country coach Pete Watson said. “We have a strong schedule planned, including a trip to Wisconsin, that has us competing against some of the top teams in the country. Our schedule is designed to help us prepare for the championships season.”

The season opens for the Cavaliers with two home competitions in September. UVA begins with the UVA Duals, featuring Liberty, JMU and Norfolk State on Sept. 2. The annual Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational will be held on Sept. 23.

The team will head to Madison, Wis., to compete in the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational on October 13. The meet will feature 34 teams including the defending national champion, Northern Arizona. The meet will also feature NCAA top-10 finishers Stanford (second place), Syracuse (third place), Wisconsin (eighth place) and Iona (10th place).

Next up, the Cavaliers will compete in the ACC Championship on Oct. 27 in Louisville, Ky. The NCAA Championships will be held on the same course on Nov. 18.

The final home meet of the year for the Cavalier will be the NCAA Southeast Regionals at Panorama Farms. Virginia will host the meet for the fourth time in five years. The meet on November 10 will be one of nine sites used to determine the field for the NCAA Championships.
