Mike Marsella Named ACC Cross Country Performer of the Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE - Virginia sophomore Mike Marsella (Hope Valley, R.I.) has been named ACC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week, conference officials announced Tuesday. Marsella was honored after a strong performance at the UVa Duals, the season-opening meet for the Cavaliers.

Marsella led Virginia to dual meet victories over Duke, Florida State, Liberty and Norfolk State at the UVa Duals. He was the top individual finisher of the 4K race at Panorama Farms, crossing in a time 12:19.

The ACC honor is the first of Marsella's career.

The Cavaliers return to action on Sept. 26 as they host the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational.
