CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–  Senior Frances Schmiede (Sydney, Australia) was named the ACC Female Runner of the Week for Week 3 on Wednesday (Sept. 27), as announced by the league office.

With her first recorded time in a UVA uniform, Schmiede led the Cavaliers to a first-place team finish at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational over the weekend. Her performance of 17:10.4 placed her second overall and first among UVA runners.

Schmiede’s time ranks in the top 20 for the Panorama Farms 5,000-meter course, tying for 17th with Brenda Kigen from Auburn (2015).

The award is the first ACC weekly honor for Schmiede.
