Friday’s meet features some of the best programs in the country as 16 out of 30 teams hold national rankings in the women’s field, while the men’s race features 20 ranked teams in a field of 35.

In the women’s 6k, five teams hold national rankings inside the top 10. New Mexico, which is ranked third, is the top-ranked team in the event followed by No. 5 Stanford, No. 6 San Francisco, No. 7 NC State and No. 8 Providence.

The men’s field features five ranked teams inside the top-10 including the nation’s top-ranked program and defending NCAA champion, Northern Arizona. Additionally, the Cavaliers will face No. 3 Syracuse, No. 4 Stanford, No. 6 Southern Utah and No. 10 Furman.

UVA heads into the meet after sweeping the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 23. The women’s team topped Yale, currently ranked 27th, as senior Frances Schmiede (Sydney, Australia) and graduate student Beth Hawling (Cheltenham, Great Britain) placed second and third overall, respectively. Senior Brent Demarest (Charleston, S.C.) led the men’s team with a fifth-place finish.
