No. 22 UVA Competes at Pre-National Invitational Saturday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The No. 22 Virginia women’s cross country team is set to compete at the Pre-National Invitational Saturday morning (Oct. 14) at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind.

The women’s 6K blue race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Live Results will be available at VirginiaSports.com. Live video will be broadcast by FloTrack and available with a FloPro subscription.

The Cavaliers, ranked No. 22 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings, will face off against 40 other schools on Saturday, including No. 2 Colorado, No. 5 Portland, No. 7 Stanford, No. 9 Oregon, No. 12 Arkansas, No. 13 Michigan, No. 16 Eastern Michigan and No. 29 Harvard.

Last time out, UVA finished fourth at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 23 at Panorama Farms in Earlysville. Sophomore Emily Mulhern (Ijamsville, Md.) finished 15th overall in 17:40.4 to lead UVA across the line, while graduate student Beth Hawling (Cheltenham, Great Britain) was 18th in 17:45.6 in her Virginia debut.

Next up, the Cavaliers will look to defend their conference title at the ACC Championships on Oct. 28 in Cary, N.C.
