CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—The Virginia men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to compete in the ACC Championships Friday morning (Oct. 30) at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla.

The men’s 8K race is set to begin at 9 a.m., while the women’s 6K race is scheduled for a 9:45 a.m. start. The meet will be streamed on ESPN3. A link to live results can be located at VirginiaSports.com.

The seventh-ranked UVA women come into to the meet as the highest ranked squad in the conference, ahead of NC State (8th), Syracuse (16th), Notre Dame (17th) and North Carolina (29th). The Cavaliers are looking for their first ACC title since 1982. UVA’s No. 7 national ranking in the latest USTFCCCA poll is the highest mark in program history. Virginia placed third at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Oct. 16 and finished ahead of 11 nationally-ranked programs.

The No. 7 Virginia men come into the championship as one of four nationally-ranked teams, joining No. 2 Syracuse, No. 12 NC State and No. 18 Virginia Tech. The Cavaliers’ last ACC title came in 2008, when they completed a stretch of winning three out of four years (2005, 2007). Last time out, UVA placed fourth at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Oct. 16.

The meet will also signify the men’s and women’s cross country matchups between Virginia and Virginia Tech in the Commonwealth Clash, sponsored by Virginia529, the official college savings plan of University of Virginia Athletics. Two potential points are at stake in the Virginia529 Commonwealth Clash, the point rivalry series between University of Virginia and Virginia Tech, one for each race. The score for the Clash is currently, University of Virginia – 1.5 and Virginia Tech – 0. Learn more about Virginia529 and this competition at TheCommonwealthClash.com.

Up next, the Cavaliers host the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va., Nov. 13. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
