Eddie Smith is in his first year on the Virginia staff. He will help oversee the day to day operations of the Virginia baseball program.

Smith is from Olympia, Wash. where he helped North Thurston High School to a state championship and perfect 24-0 record. Following high school, he attended Centralia Community College in Centralia, Wash., where the Blazers reached the NWAACC tournament.

Smith concluded his career as an infielder at the University of Notre Dame. In his two seasons, the Irish won two BIG EAST championships and appeared in two NCAA Regionals. He graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish.

His previous coaching experience includes being the head coach for the North Thurston High School Legion team in 2004. Smith also served as the assistant camp director at the University of Notre Dame in 2006.
