Mike Papi led off the game for UVa with a home run to left, the first leadoff home run for the Cavaliers since Chris Taylor did so against Wake Forest on April 7, 2012 at Davenport Field
Papi's leadoff home run is the first in NCAA play for UVa since Phil Gosselin leadoff with a home run in the first game of the 2010 NCAA Super Regional against Oklahoma

Mississippi State improves to 47-18 on the season
MSU is now 1-0 against Virginia all-time.
The 11 runs scored today are the most MSU has scored in a super regional game.
MSU's 20 hits is the second-most this season. State had 21 against Portland to open the season on February 15.
The 20 hits are the most for MSU in a super regional game.
The two triples ties the most by MSU in an NCAA Tournament game and is the fifth time an MSU squad has had a pair of triples in an NCAA Tournament game (last time: vs Notre Dame, 5/28/00 in Starkville)

Ross Mitchell recorded his 31st appearance of the season, which ranks eighth in MSU's single-season history. His 31 relief appearance is also eighth-most in a single season.
Wes Rea recorded his 13th multiple-hit game of the season and his second three-hit game.
Demarcus Henderson recorded his ninth multiple-hit game of the season and fifth three-hit.
Henderson matched a career high with three hits.
