The Cavaliers' bats have been hot early this season, as Virginia has a .323 team batting average and six regulars are hitting .333 or better. Branden Cogswell (So., Ballston Lake, N.Y.) boasts a team-best .455 batting average.

Virginia's pitching staff has compiled a 2.14 team ERA. The starting pitchers have strung together 29 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings, including five straight scoreless starts.

George Washington has started slow out of the gates, losing its first five games, including a 3-game series sweep at USC Upstate this past weekend. The Colonials have scuffled at the plate, batting .185 with four extra-base hits, but Tyler McCarthy has been the team's top hitter thus far with a .313 batting average. GW also owns a 6.00 team ERA.

Virginia is 20-13 in its all-time series with George Washington. The Cavaliers have won four straight against the Colonials, including a 16-4 win on April 11, 2012, at Davenport Field.

The Cavaliers are home this weekend for a round robin tournament with Bucknell and Harvard. All three teams will play four games.
