- The second-ranked Virginia baseball team will play host to a pair of midweek games this week, with Richmond and George Mason traveling to Davenport Field for 6 p.m. games on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Both games will be broadcast by WINA 1070-AM and streamed online at VirginiaSports.com (available through a V Pass subscription).
Tuesday is $2 Tuesday at the stadium.

Richmond and George Mason are back on the Cavaliers' schedule for the first time since 2007. The Spiders are 17-17 (4-8 Atlantic 10), while the Patriots boast a 23-11 record (7-5 CAA).
Virginia (29-9, 12-6 ACC) is ranked as high as No. 2 nationally this week by Baseball America and Rivals.com. UVa also is fourth in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and NCBWA poll and 10th in the Collegiate Baseball rankings.
The Cavaliers took two of three games over the weekend from then-No. 20 Virginia Tech. It marked Virginia's fifth series win over a ranked team this season (East Carolina, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech). UVa also won its fifth ACC series of the year.
Virginia sold out all three games of the series and finished with a program record three-game attendance of 12,657. The Cavaliers currently rank 21st nationally with an average attendance of 2,780 per game. UVa is on pace to obliterate its average season attendance record of 1,774 per game, set in 2007.
In the four games last week, John Barr (Jr., Ivyland, Pa.) led the team with a .556 batting average (5-for-9). He hit his first career home run last Wednesday at VMI. Phil Gosselin (Jr., West Chester, Pa.) continued his strong season with seven hits in 17 at bats (.412). He continues to lead the ACC in hits with 60.
Virginia ranks third in the ACC with a .337 batting average and also is third with a 3.87 team ERA. The Cavaliers continue to stand second in team fielding with a .979 mark.
Richmond lost two of three games in its series with George Washington last weekend. Billy Barber leads the Spiders with a .425 batting average this season. He also has hit eight home runs and driven in 40 runs. The Spiders are batting .292 as a team and have a 6.11 team ERA.
A 2009 NCAA Tournament team, George Mason will bring a six-game winning streak to Charlottesville. The Patriots swept a three-game series at Northeastern last weekend. GMU has a potent offense and is batting .327 this season, while Dan Palumbo (.423), Ryan Soares (.416) and Mark Hill (.406) all are batting above .400. The Patriots also have a 4.75 team ERA.
One of the highlights Wednesday will be the family battle between brothers Kyle and Keith Werman. Keith is a sophomore infielder for the Cavaliers, while Kyle is a former UVa standout infielder and assistant coach and currently is an assistant coach at George Mason.
Virginia travels to Maryland this weekend in ACC play, as the Cavaliers will play three of their final four ACC series on the road. The teams will play at 6 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
