CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The No. 5 Virginia baseball team concludes a six-game homestand this week with a pair of midweek games at Davenport Field. The Cavaliers (35-6, 16-5 ACC) face Richmond at 6 p.m. Tuesday and James Madison at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Tuesday is a $2 Tuesday at Davenport Field, with $2 hot dogs and sodas available throughout the evening.

Virginia-Richmond Series
Virginia leads its series with Richmond, 79-58-2, and has won 10 straight games against the Spiders. UVa's last loss against UR was March 3, 2003, when the Cavaliers were swept in a road doubleheader against the Spiders.

UVa is 9-0 against Richmond under head coach Brian O'Connor and defeated the Spiders 7-5 on April 17, 2012, in the teams' last meeting.

Virginia-James Madison Series
Virginia has a 35-25-1 edge in its series with James Madison. The Cavaliers have won 12 of the last 14 games with JMU.

Last year the teams met three times; the teams played to a 4-4 tie on Feb. 18, 2012, in Myrtle Beach, and UVa nabbed a pair of wins on March 6 (14-6 in Harrisonburg) and April 4 (15-5 in Charlottesville).

UVa is 9-1-1 against JMU under Brian O'Connor; JMU's last win in the series was nearly six years ago to the day - April 25, 2007, a 7-6, 14-inning win at Davenport Field.

Four Intrastate Opponents on Docket Before Finals Week
Virginia's final six games heading into finals week all will be against in-state opponents, including a three-game series at Virginia Tech this weekend. Under the current coaching staff (since 2004), the Cavaliers have an 86-13-1 record against in-state opponents.

UVa is 5-1 this year against foes from the commonwealth of Virginia.

Cogswell Named to Brooks Wallace Award Watch List
Virginia shortstop Branden Cogswell (So., Ballston Lake, N.Y.) has been named one of 25 quarterfinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, which is presented to the nation's top shortstop.

Cogswell is batting .357 this season (10th in the ACC) and owns a .479 on base percentage while serving as the Virginia leadoff hitter. He has played in all 41 games this season.

Noting Richmond
Richmond holds a 24-14 record (7-5 Atlantic 10) after taking two of three games against St. Joseph's last weekend at home. Jacob Mayers leads the team with a .384 batting average and seven homers. He also has knocked in 30 runs this year.

The Spiders have a .290 team batting average, a 4.13 team ERA and a .976 fielding percentage. UR is familiar with tight games, as 26 of their 38 contests have been decided by three runs or fewer (15-11 record in those games)

Noting James Madison
JMU is 18-21 (8-12 CAA) after winning two of three games against Georgia State last weekend in Harrisonburg. The Dukes have won four of their last five games in bouncing back from an 11-game losing skid.

Colby Roberts was named one of Louisville Slugger's four National Players of the Week this week after going 12-for-18 with 15 RBI during five games last week. JMU owns a .318 team batting average as well as a 6.13 team ERA and .967 fielding percentage.
