Virginia-VCU Series
Virginia holds a 35-19 lead in its all-time series with VCU. UVa has won the last 11 meetings with the Rams, all during the tenure of the current coaching staff (since 2004). VCU's last win against UVa came in 2003.

The teams met two weeks ago at The Diamond in Richmond, with the Cavaliers scoring an 11-3 victory. Mike Papi was 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI to pace Virginia's 14-hit attack. UVa jumped to a 9-0 lead through six innings and cruised from there. Virginia pitchers limited the Rams to just four hits, with three coming in the seventh inning.

Virginia vs. In-State Opponents
Under the current coaching staff (since 2004), the Cavaliers have an 90-15-1 record against in-state opponents. UVa is 9-3 this year against foes from the commonwealth of Virginia in 2013 heading into its final regular-season contest against an in-state foe.

Papi Named ACC Player of the Week
Virginia outfielder Mike Papi has been named the ACC Co-Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office. Papi shares the distinction with Florida State's DJ Stewart. The ACC Player of the Week nod is the first in Papi's career and the first by a UVa player this season.

Papi had a huge weekend as Virginia swept a three-game conference series against Duke. He starred both in the field and at the plate. He went 6-for-11 (.545) at the plate, scoring six runs and driving in eight.

Cavaliers Post Another 40-Win Campaign
Virginia has secured its eighth 40-win season in the last 10 years. UVa has recorded 39 wins or more in all 10 years under the current coaching staff (39 wins in 2008, 2012). UVa had one season of 40 wins or more prior to 2004 (1996).

UVa is tied with Louisville for the fifth-most wins nationally this year. North Carolina, LSU and Vanderbilt all have 45 wins, while Campbell owns 43 victories.

Noting VCU
The Rams sport a 25-25 record after dropping two of three games in their series at George Washington last weekend. VCU was 2-2 last weekend; the Rams scored a 9-7 win at Maryland last Wednesday.

Joey Cujas leads the team with a .335 batting average and 37 RBI. VCU is hitting .267 as a team.

VCU has a 3.72 team ERA. The Rams are the 11th-best fielding team in the nation at .979.

Up Next
Virginia plays host to VCU at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the regular-season home finale at Davenport Field. The Cavaliers then travel No. 2 North Carolina Thursday through Saturday to complete the ACC schedule; UVa trails UNC by one game in the Coastal Division standings heading into the final weekend of the regular season.
