CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia Baseball's 2017 Orange & Blue World Series continued over the weekend, with the Blue winning Game 3, 5-0, before the Orange took Game 4, 10-1, Saturday at Davenport Field.

Despite losing the first two games, the Blue team captured the first three-game series in the seven-game series by virtue of run differential.

In Game 3, the Blue team's Bennett Sousa (Sr., North Palm Beach, Fla.) fired six shutout innings and struck out seven and combined with Chesdin Harrington (Jr., Montpelier, Va.) on a two-hitter. Andy Weber (Jr., Aurora, Ohio) went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and two stolen bases, while Tanner Morris (Fr., Crozet, Va.) hit a two-run home run.

The Orange bounced back to take Game 4 with a dominating performance. Justin Novak (Sr., Tokyo, Japan) went 4-for-4, while Cameron Comer (Jr., Powell, Ohio) broke the game open in the seventh inning with a grand slam. Bobby Nicholson (So., Charlottesville, Va.) worked six shutout innings, allowing just two hits while fanning five to earn the win for the Blue.

Game 5 is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday. The seven games will be broken up into two three-game series (Games 1-3 and Games 4-6 are separate series) as well as a stand-alone Game 7. If a given team wins the first two games of either series, the third game of that series will be played based on run differential of the first two games to allow the trailing team a chance to still win the series. Each team is encouraged to score as many runs as possible and not worry about running up the score.

Admission is free, while free parking is available in the University Hall lot. Because of ongoing construction at Davenport Field, fans must enter the complex through the main gate at Davenport Field/Klöckner Stadium and use the entry point to Davenport Field along the third-base line. Concessions also will be available.

Blount Eager to Assume Larger Role
The job will not be handed to rising sophomore Joey Blount. He'll have to earn it. This is head coach Bronco Mendenhall's program, after all. But after spending the 2017 season as free safety Quin Blanding's understudy, Blount is the leading candidate to take over in the secondary for the University of Virginia's all-time leading tackler.
