Virginia's Norman Nolan Earns ACC Player of the Week Honor

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va - University of Virginia forward Norman Nolan (Baltimore, Md.) is the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Nolan, a 6-8 senior forward, scored 79 points, grabbed 32 rebounds and shot 54.2 percent from the field (32-59) in Virginia's three games last week.

In Virginia's 72-54 victory over Brigham Young in the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, on December 29, he had game-high totals of 24 points and 10 rebounds. He also scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in UVa's 87-82 overtime loss to New Mexico State in the Rainbow Classic on December 30.

In the Cavaliers' 73-64 overtime victory over Wake Forest in Richmond, Va., on Sunday (Jan. 4), Nolan had game-high totals of 31 points and 12 rebounds. The 31 points tied his career high.

Nolan has had a double-double points and rebounds in each of the last four games.

Virginia is currently 8-5 overall and 1-1 in the ACC.

Wake Forest's Robert O'Kelley was named the ACC Rookie of the Week.
