Jan. 2, 2018

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia sophomore guard Ty Jerome (New Rochelle, N.Y.) has been voted the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Jerome scored a career-high 31 points to lead No. 8 Virginia to a 59-58 win over Boston College on Saturday (Dec. 30). Jerome shot 11-of-17 from the floor, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range, and converted all three of his free throw attempts. Playing a career-high 37 minutes, Jerome tallied 19 of Virginia's 29 second-half points. Jerome added five rebounds and two assists as the Cavaliers won their 10th straight league opener. Jerome is averaging 9.7 points and a team-high 2.5 assists thus far.

Joining Jerome as a weekly honoree is Duke's Marvin Bagley III, who was selected the conference's Rookie of the Week. Bagley scored 32 points and had 21 rebounds in Duke's win over Florida State.

ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel.

No. 8 Virginia (12-1, 1-0 ACC) travels to in-state rival Virginia Tech (11-3, 0-1 ACC) on Wednesday (Jan. 3). Tipoff for the Commonwealth Clash at Cassell Coliseum is set for 9 p.m.
