Men's Basketball Player Honored

CHARLOTTESVILLE--University of Virginia sophomore center Colin Ducharme (Richmond, Va.) is a member of the 1998 GTE University Division Academic All-District III Men's Basketball Team.

Also named to the six-man team were Matt Harpring of Georgia Tech, Matt Javit of UNC-Greensboro, Adam Larrick of Charleston Southern, Corey Reed of Radford and Tom Wideman of Clemson. District III is made up of all Division I schools in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Ducharme, an Echols Scholar, played in all 29 games for the Cavaliers during the 1997-98 regular season and started 22. He is averaging 8.0 points and 5.1 rebounds a game, and leads the team in blocked shots with 33. He is shooting 50.3 percent from the field (85-169) and 73.3 percent from the free throw line (63-86).
