Jackson Matteo is in his first season as a graduate assistant coach at Virginia. He will work with the defense.

Matteo, a four-year letter winner at Virginia, started 24 straight games for the Cavaliers at center from 2015-16. He was on the Remington Trophy Watch List in 2016 as one of the nation’s top centers. Matteo helped block for Taquan Mizzell, the first player in ACC history with 1,500 career rushing and 1,500 career receiving yards. He earned VaSID second-team all-state honors after leading UVA with 36 cut blocks.

Matteo, a native of Ashburn, Va., is a 2016 graduate of Virginia with a degree in sociology.  He played high school football at Broad Run High School.
