2002--Played in all 14 games in several different roles ... fifth on the team with 102 yards rushing ... seventh among ACC quarterbacks in rushing ... served as the back-up quarterback behind ACC Player of the Year Matt Schaub ...played very little at quarterback after the first month of the season, but saw his role expand in other areas ... completed 14 of 25 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown ...was the team's primary punt returner ... averaged 9.0 yards per return, sixth in the ACC ...very nearly led the team to a comeback win in his first collegiate appearance in the season opener against Colorado State ... entered the game at the start of the second quarter and promptly guided the Cavaliers to a touchdown on his own one-yard keeper ... completed five of six passes on the drive and carried four times for 28 yards the call for the final drive with 2:20 left in the game ... calmly led the team down field and into position to win ... however, on third-and-goal from the three-yard line, he rolled right and was pressured ... trying to get into the end zone, he lost a fumble with 10 seconds remaining to end UVa's chance to win ... led the team in passing in that game with 120 yards, completing 10 of 13 throws ... also rushed 11 times for a season-high 45 yards and the touchdown ... started at quarterback the next week at Florida State and had a rough outing before being replaced late in the second quarter ... completed one of seven passes for four yards ... assumed the primary punt return duties in the fourth game against Akron ... returned two punts for 16 yards in that game ... also intercepted a pass out of punt formation in that game ... scored the winning touchdown on a 13-yard scamper with 6:13 left to defeat Wake Forest ... also had two punt returns for 15 yards ... returned five punts (a career high) for 39 yards in the win over North Carolina ... followed that with five punt returns for 38 yards the following week against Georgia Tech ... had his only reception (four yards) vs. Virginia Tech ... was on the field for just three plays against West Virginia in the Continental Tire Bowl, but had a tremendous impact on the game ... threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to a wide open Wali Lundy on an option play for UVa's first touchdown ... took a punt back 69 yards for a touchdown midway through the second quarter to extend the lead to 21-10 ... that is the first punt return for a touchdown in a bowl game in school history and the longest punt return in a bowl game by a Cavalier ... lettered.

2001--Was the team's third quarterback behind Matt Schaub and Bryson Spinner ... did not play in any games, but was on the travel squad and gained valuable experience charting plays ... was in uniform for all but the first two games of the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Fork Union Military Academy during the 2000-01 academic year ... played quarterback and cornerback at Fork Union for head coach John Shuman ... passed for 2000 yards and nine touchdowns, and rushed for 900 yards and six touchdowns ... 2000 graduate of Hampton High School where he played for head coach Mike Smith ... received All-Region, All-District and All-Conference honors as a senior and named second-team All-State as a junior ... passed for 1,934 yards and 25 touchdowns his senior year ... rushed for 671 yards ... ranked as the No. 21 player in Virginia by SuperPrep following his senior season at Hampton HS.
