Virginia was second in the league in net punting (37.9 avg.) ... had 16 punts of at least 50 yards, including a school-record five of more than 60 yards ... buried 23 punts inside the opponents' 20-yard line ... since Virginia started keeping track of punts inside the 20 in 1984, only Will Brice ever had more in a season ... Brice had 26 in 1995 ... kicked the first punt of his career 55 yards in the season opener at Auburn in front of a crowd of nearly 80,000 ... coolly dropped his second punt in that game at the Auburn one-yard line ... for the game he averaged 38.5 yards on six punts ... was even better against Maryland in the next game ... averaged 47.5 yards on six punts ... buried two punts inside the 20-yard line against the Terrapins and set off a rocket of a punt of 66 yards (that carried approximately 85 yards off his foot before landing deep in the end zone) ... punted 10 times for a 44.4-yard average against Duke, placing four punts inside Duke's 20-yard line ... his performance on Oct. 24 against N.C. State's average starting field position was its own 16-yard line ... buried six punts inside State's 20-yard line, including four inside the 10 ... his ability to punt the ball high enabled his coverage team to limit Torry Holt to only one return for one yard ... his first punt of the afternoon carried 68 yards and was buried at the three-yard line ... that punt is tied for the 11th-longest boot in school history ... was named the ACC Specialist of the Week for his performance against N.C.
