Beginning in August, "Chasing Uncompromised Excellence," will replace the current Virginia athletics television show "Cavalier Sports Weekly." "Chasing Uncompromised Excellence" will air weekly from August-April. The program will feature behind-the-scenes access, interviews, and footage from practices, meetings, and games, and will profile each of UVa's 25 sports programs as they work to meet the athletics department's goals.
"Coach London and his staff are focused on the goal of creating a football team that is smart, tough and aggressive," Virginia Executive Associate Athletics Director Jon Oliver said. "Based on the questions surrounding our progress to date, we thought it would be important to show our fans the behind the scenes work that is being done to build a program that is consistently competitive and one that will ultimately compete for championships.
"We are also excited to expand the show beginning in August to include a behind the scenes look at all of our sport programs and their efforts to chase the athletics department's goal of winning 70 conference championships and 12 national championships between the fall of 2012 and the spring of 2022."
The third show focuses on Virginia’s defensive led by new coordinator Jon Tenuta. The program also includes an inside look at the Orange-Blue Spring Game and features all-access wired-for-sound features with Cavalier coaches and student-athletes.
The Virginia athletics department debuted "The Building of the Program" in 2010 in support of head coach Mike London and the team's preparation leading up to his first season as the Cavaliers' head coach. Additional episodes aired in August prior to the start of the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
