Charlottesville, Va. - The Virginia football team took the field at The Park, located on the North Grounds of the University, again on Tuesday afternoon for practice No. 2 under warm but cloudy skies. Tuesday's practice was the final one of just wearing helmets. UVa will move to shoulder pads and helmets for the next two practices as part of a five-day acclimatization process.

Much of the attention prior to practice was on head coach Mike London's thoughts of the quarterbacks after day 1.

"I thought all five QBs did a nice job," London said Tuesday prior to practice. "Michael [Rocco] was sharp as usually, which you expect that - David [Watford] looked practically good. There are things Phillip [Sims] will need to improve on, but in regards to mechanics and things like that he did a nice job - he is learning the offense as we go along like some of these freshmen. I thought all three did a nice job - we are where we are because Michael and David have been in this offense and scheme for a couple years now."

Tuesday's practice featured a lot of positional drills and toward the end the offense and defense came together for short periods of 7-on-7 and 11-on-11. Practice ended with the offense working on being backed-up on its own goal line, as well as a teaching period on special teams. Players worked on field goal block and kick coverages.

A lot of talk going around the team on Tuesday was the results of the team-bowling activity the night before.

"Let me tell you what," said London as he reflected on the evening. "Morgan Moses - outstanding. LoVante' Battle- outstanding."

The quest for bowling elite amongst the Cavaliers came down to Battle and Moses.

"My biggest competition bowling was Morgan Moses," said Battle. "He is my brother, so Monday night it was a brotherly rivalry between us."

"He was close but not close enough," Battle said smiling.

London was happy to see his 2012 squad bond on the first day of camp away from the practice field.

"We did the pool party the last couple years, but you couldn't control the weather so we decided to go in doors," said London. "Greyson Lambert, who is a quiet guy, is jumping up giving chest bumps after every strike he bowled. When you do activities like this and build team chemistry in different setting and away from the competition on the field- its neat to see a guy who might be quiet or reserve to break out of his shell and show excitement."

Practice No. 3 is set for Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at The Park. Practices through Saturday are open to the public. Wednesday through Friday practices are at The Park starting at 3:45 p.m., while Saturday’s practice is set for Scott Stadium at 4 p.m.
