Charlottesville, Va. - The University of Virginia football program holds its annual "Meet the Team Day" on Thursday (Aug. 19) at Scott Stadium, rain or shine. The North and East gates will open at 3:00 pm, with the team arriving at approximately 3:30. The event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in and around the stadium that day. Scheduled activities for Meet the Team Day include locker room tours, a uniform try-on station, V-Sabre face tattoos, free posters, commemorative autograph cards, schedule cards and, while supplies last, a specially designed V-Sabre yard sign. There will be a live band performing at the North entrance. In addition, fans can ride the gyrosphere and there will be plenty of food, beverages and Cavalier merchandise to purchase, including the Orange Fever t-shirt that has quickly become a fan favorite. The Cavaliers are completing their first week of practice in preparation for the season opener at Temple on Sept. 4. Virginia opens its home and ACC season the following week against North Carolina on Sept. 11. Season tickets are still available but going fast as the Cavaliers continue to increase their record season ticket sales mark. Approximately 38,100 season tickets have been sold so far. The previous record, set last year, was 36,225. Tickets can be ordered online at virginiasports.com or by calling 1-800-542-UVA1.
