Nov. 13, 1999
**UVa quarterback Dan Ellis threw six touchdown passes to set a UVa single-game record. The six TD passes also tied the ACC record set by Duke's Steve Slayden vs. Georgia Tech in 1987.
**Ellis threw for a career-high 363 yards vs. the Bulls, the second-best total in school history.
**Virginia tailback Thomas Jones, the nation's leading rusher, set a school record with 331 all-purpose yards (221 rushing, 110 receiving). The previous record was held by "Bullet" Bill Dudley and was one of the oldest records in the UVa record book. Dudley amassed 325 all-purpose yards (215 rushing, 59 punt returns, 51 kickoff returns) in an historic performance against North Carolina in 1941.
**Jones also became the first player in school history to gain 100 yards by both rushing AND receiving in the same game.
**Jones gained 221 yards rushing and scored one touchdown on the ground in 32 carries. It was his second consecutive 200-yard game-tying his own school and ACC records. Former Cavalier Terry Kirby also rushed for 200+ yards in consecutive games in 1992 as did Maryland's Charlie Wysocki in 1979. Jones did it last season vs. San Jose State and Georgia Tech as well.
**The 221 yards also ties Jones' career high set vs. N.C. State last month.
**The 200-yard game was Jones' fourth of the season, extending his own school and ACC records.
**It is also his sixth 200-yard game of his career, which extends his own school and ACC records.
**Jones has rushed for a UVa record 1707 yards and needs just 14 yards next week vs. Maryland to set the single-season ACC mark. North Carolina's Don McCauley holds the record with 1720 yards in 1970.
**Jones currently has 3907 yards rushing in his career which is a UVa record and sixth in ACC history.
**Jones has compiled a UVa season record 1951 all-purpose yards, breaking the previous record of 1906 yards by Tiki Barber in 1995 (12 games vs. Jones' 10 games). UNC's McCauley also holds the ACC record with 2021 all-purpose yards in 1970.
**Jones' 16 rushing touchdowns this season is tied for sixth in ACC history, while his 17 total touchdowns is tied for fifth in league history.
**Virginia's 615 yards of total offense today is the most for the Cavaliers since they rolled up 689 yards vs. William & Mary in 1990. It is the fourth-highest total in school history.
