UVa Football Squad to Spend Holiday Season in Hawaii

Charlottesville, Va. - The University of Virginia accepted an invitation today to participate in the 2000 Jeep Aloha Bowl/Jeep Oahu Bowl Christmas Football Classics in December in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The Cavaliers are expected to face a school from the Pac-10 conference in either the Jeep Oahu Bowl on Dec. 24 at 8:30 p.m. (EST) or the Jeep Aloha Bowl at 3:30 p.m. (EST) on Christmas Day.

Virginia's opponent and the bowl the Cavaliers will participate in are expected to be announced next week.

The Cavaliers finished the 2000 season with a 6-5 overall record, including a 5-3 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference games.

The Hawaii bowl is Virginia's 12th bowl in school history, and the 10th bowl game in the last 12 years. This is the first time the Cavaliers have played in Hawaii.

The Virginia Athletic Ticket Office is currrently accepting orders for the Cavaliers' bowl game in Hawaii. Tickets are $45 each and are good for admission to both bowl games. They may be purchased by calling the ticket office at 1-800-542-8821 or (804) 924-8821 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
