The second round of Coastal Carolina's General Jim Hackler Invitational was suspended late Monday due to darkness. The 19-team tourney will resume at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9 at the TPC of Myrtle Beach Course with the completion of round two and the entire third round.
After the first round, Virginia stands third overall with a 299 (+11). The No. 31 Pepperdine shot a 292 (+4) to lead the field, while No. 18 Wake Forest is second with a 297 (+9).
Individually, UVa junior Kevin O'Connell (Potomac, Md.) is tied for first place with Pepperdine's Michael Putnam and Wake Forest's Bill Haas, son of PGA Tour veteran Jay Haas and the top-ranked player in the nation according to GolfWeek, with a two-under 70. The 70 is a season low for O'Connell.
Senior Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) follows with a 74 (+2) to tie for 13th. Sophomore Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) shot a 76 (+4), while sophomore Eamonn McLoughlin (Amityville, N.Y.) fired a 79 (+7). Freshman Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) rounded out the scoring with a 80 (+8).
