TALLAHASSEE, FL -
The University of Virginia men's golf team won the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee, Fla. on March 13-14, finishing the two-day three round event with a seven-under-par score of 857 (295-278-284). Virginia's Steve Marino won the individual competition with a three round score of 205. Marino shot a 67 in the final round at the par-72, 6869-yard Golden Eagle course, after finishing the first day at six-under-par with rounds of 70 and 68. Virginia's Rusty Kennedy tied for second with Rob Simmons of North Carolina with a three-under-par score of 213.
The University of North Carolina finished second, 18 strokes behind the Cavaliers, with a score of 875. College of Charleston and Alabama-Birmingham tied for third (880), followed by Duke (884).
