Cavaliers Finish Fifth at Linger Longer Invitational

Greensboro, Ga. - The No. 44 Virginia men’s golf team finished fifth at the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 4-over 292 for a 54-hole total of 1-over 864. No. 8 Alabama captured the team title at 24-under 840.

Junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) led UVA in scoring for the fifth time in the team’s last six tournaments. He shot 1-under 71 and placed sixth at 5-under 211. It was the ninth top-10 finish of his career and his fourth of the season.

Senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) led Virginia during the final round by shooting 2-under 70 to move up to a 13th-place finish at 2-under 214. Sophomore Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) shot 3-over 75 and placed 25th at 218.

Sophomore Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.) finished in 53rd place at 225 while classmate Luke Schaap (Potomac, Md.) was 78th at 232. Freshman Brandon Yoon (Ashburn, Va.), competing as an individual, was 85th at 238 in his second tournament appearance.

The Cavaliers are out of tournament action until they compete at the Gary Koch Invitational in Gastonia, N.C. on April 9-10.
