Awendaw, S.C. - Virginia sophomore men's golfer Denny McCarthy recorded his second top-10 finish of season, placing seventh at the Hootie @ Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Course in Awendaw, S.C. McCarthy finished the 54-hole tournament at 3-over 219 including a 1-under 71 during Tuesday's final round.

McCarthy's finish was the seventh top-10 performance during his career. A year ago he placed fifth at the Hootie @ Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, which is named for country singer Darius Rucker, the former front man for the band Hootie and the Blow Fish.

Virginia placed 14th in the 15-team field that included 10 teams ranked in the current Golfstat top-50 poll. The Cavaliers had rounds of 315, 299 and 306 to finish at 56-over 920. The tournament was completed over two days after Sunday's opening round was postponed due to thunderstorms.

Duke, ranked No. 11, took the team trophy at 10-over 874. ACC schools claimed four of the top six spots on the leaderboard with NC State (877) finishing second, Wake Forest (884) claiming third and North Carolina finishing sixth (891).

UVa's Ji Soo Park was the team's second highest finisher in 33rd place at 11-over 227. David Pastore was 62nd at 235, Mac McLaughlin was 70th at 241 and Alex Lloyd was 73rd at 245.

NC State's Logan Harrell claimed medalist honors at 3-under 213.

The Cavaliers are off from tournament action until they compete at the Navy Invitational April 20-21 in Annapolis, Md.
