The University of Virginia men's golf team finished 15th at the Cleveland Golf /Morris Williams Intercollegiate at the Austin Country Club in Austin, TX. The final round was cancelled due to weather conditions. Georgia Tech won the tournament with a 36 hole score of 573 (281-292) at the par-72, 6,906-yard course. Oklahoma State finished second (574), and Oklahoma (576), Texas (577), and Pepperdine (578) rounded out the top five teams. The Cavaliers placed 15th with a 32-over-par 608 in the first two rounds.
Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder won the individual title with a nine-under par 135 (67-68) on the first day of the tournament. Leading the way for Virginia was junior Steve Marino, who tied for 21st with a score of two-over-par 146. Freshman Kevin O'Connell had a two-round total of 153 (72, 81) and tied for 62nd place. Freshman Rusty Kennedy tied for 66th place with a two-round total of 154 (79, 75). Rounding out the Virginia players were seniors Cameron Yancey (80-75-155) and Mike Mitchell (83-95-178).
