Hoos End Hootie at Bulls Bay Tourney in 10th Place

Awendaw, S.C. - The No. 9 Virginia men’s golf team finished 10th at the Hootie at Bulls Bay tournament at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C. UVA posted a final-round score of even par 288 for a three-day total of even par 864. South Carolina won the tournament at 20-under 844.

Senior Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) led UVA with a fifth-place finish. He carded a final-round score of 2-under 70 for a 54-hole total of 7-under 209. It marked the fifth time this season Stanger has posted a top-10 finish.

Classmate Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) placed 12th at 2-under 214 after shooting 1-over 73 on Tuesday. He tied with freshman Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) who was competing as an individual and did not count as part of UVA’s team scoring.

UVA sophomore Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) had his best round of the week, finishing with a 1-under 71 to climb to 40th place at 3-over 219.

Freshman Luke Schaap (Potomac, Md.) completed play at 11-over 227 for 73rd place while junior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) was 75th at 228.

The Cavaliers wrap up their regular season with an appearance at the Gary Koch Invitational in Gastonia, N.C. on April 10-11.
