GREENVILLE, S.C. - The University of Virginia fired a final-round 294 to defeat East Tennessee State by two strokes to capture the Furman Intercollegiate title and earn the Cavalier's first team title of the season. Maryland's Keith Unikel topped Virginia's James Driscoll on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff, to give the Terrapins medalist honors. Both players finished at seven-under par (209), five strokes ahead of Chris Wisler of East Tennessee State (214). This is the second time Virginia has won the Furman Intercollegiate title, the last time being in 1995.

Driscoll entered the final round with a three-stroke lead over Unikel, but Unikel carded a final round of 68 while Driscoll shot a 71 to force the playoff. Unikel shot par for the first hole while Driscoll left his approach shot short of the green and three-putted for a bogey to drop to second place. Driscoll posted rounds of 69-70-71 for the two-day event.

Virginia's Steve Marino finished in a tie for fifth place (+1, 217), Mike Mitchell and Cameron Yancey finished in a seven-way tie for 32nd place (+10, 226), and Justin Goodhue finished in a four-way tie for 43rd place (+12, 228).
