CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - The University of Virginia's golf team is currently in second place after the Cavaliers shot a three-over-par 291 on the first day of the Cavalier Classic at the Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va. East Tennessee State finished with an even-par 288 to take the lead after the first round on the par 72, 6,875-yard course. Florida State is currently third with a nine-over-par 297, and the University of North Carolina is two strokes behind with an 11-over-par 299. The final round of the 36-hole tournament will be played on Monday.

Chris Wisler of East Tennessee, who shot a three-under par 69, is the individual leader after the first round. Mark Donaldson of Florida State and James Johnson of East Tennessee are currently tied for second with a two-under-par 70. Cameron Yancey of Virginia is fourth with a one-under-par 71. Virginia freshman Kevin O'Connell is tied for fifth with John Harris of North Carolina with an even-par 72.
