Hoos Remain in 13th Place at Carpet Capital Collegiate

Dalton, Ga. - Despite shaving six strokes off of its first-round score, the No. 15 Virginia men’s golf team remained in 13th place after the second round of play at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Dalton, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 11-over 297 for a two-day total of 600. Florida continues to lead the field at 570 while Georgia Tech and Alabama are tied for second at 571.

Senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) shot 3-under 69 to move up to 15th place at 2-under 142. Junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) is in 58th place at 152 after shooting 5-over 77 on Saturday.

Connor Messick (Oak Hill, Va.) is in 62nd place at 153, Luke Schaap (Bethesda, Md.) is 71st at 155 and Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) is 74th at 157. Messick shot 74 while Orischak carded a second-round of 77 and Schaap posted a score of 79.

Redshirt sophomore Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.) dropped back to 54th place at 151 after shooting 79. He posted an opening round score of 72. Poole is playing in the tournament as an individual competitor.
