Virginia Stands Fourth at Tournament of Champions

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- The Virginia men's golf team is tied for fourth after the first day at the Tournament of Champions on Monday.

Tennessee leads the scoring with 546 (-22), while Alabama will start the second day at a distant second with a 564 (-4). The Cavaliers shot 289 in the first round and 280 in the second round for an overall 569 in the first day.

Tennessee dominated the first day as Lloyd Campbell leads in the scoring with a nine-under 133 after firing a 67 in the second round. Tied for second are Tennessee's Jonathan Mount and Philip Pettitt with a 135 (-7) each.

Freshman Conrad Von Borsig (Swarthmore, Pa.) leads the Cavaliers, tied for ninth with a three-under 139. Senior Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) fired a one-under 141 to tie for 13th place. Senior Carter Henderson (Nashville, Tenn.) shot a 144 (+2) to tie for 27th, while freshman Daniel Kefale (Woodbridge, Va.) carded a 145 (+3) to tie for 33rd. Sophomore Daniel McGurk (Woodlands, Texas) rounded out the UVa scoring card with a 135 (+14).

The second round of action in the Tournament of Champions tees off at 8 a.m. on September 13.
