Dalton, Ga. - Virginia's Mike Mitchell (Chevy Chase, Md./Georgetown Prep) fired the day's low round of 66 to help Virginia finish eighth out of 15 teams in the Carpet Capital Classic at The Farm Golf Course (par 72, 6,906 yards). Georgia Tech's Bryce Molder shot 12-under par for the tournament to capture individual honors and to lead the Yellow Jackets to the team title. Georgia Tech finished 12 strokes ahead of the pre-season number one team, Clemson.

Mitchell recorded eight birdies today to finish in a tie for fifth place overall. He shot a season-best four-under par with rounds of 72-74-66 to lead all Virginia golfers. For Virginia, Steve Marino (Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson) finished in a tie for 17th place with a three-day total of 216 and finished even, James Driscoll (Brookline, Mass./Brookline Taft) finished in a tie for 41st at eight over par (224), Cameron Yancey (Blackstone, Va./ Nottoway) finished in a tied for 60th place at 14 over par (230) and Shivin Kwatra (New Dehli, India) tied for 73rd place at 20 over par (236).

Virginia returns to action on Oct. 11-12 at the Tennessee Tournament of Champions in Knoxville, Tenn.
