CHAPEL HILL, NC - The Virginia men's golf team shot a 312 (+24) in the final round of the Franklin Street Partners Invitational. The Cavaliers had a three-day total of 929 (+65), which was good for a ninth place finish.

Senior Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) led the Cavaliers with a score of 230 (+14) to finish in a tie for 20th. Sophomore Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and sophomore Craig Cook-Stevenson (Sutton-Coldfield, Eng.) tied for 32nd at 234 (+18). Freshman Mark Perry (Atlanta, Ga.) finished in a tie for 34th with a score of 236 (+20). Junior Kevin O?Connell (Potomac, Md.) shot a 237 (+21) to tie for 37th.

Host North Carolina went wire-to-wire, winning the championship with an 875 (+11). Georgia Southern finished in second at 879 (+15). Kentucky rounded out the top three with an 894 (+30). North Carolina's Dustin Bray made a big jump on Sunday, shooting a 69 (-3) to tie for medallist honors with Alabama's Lars Brovold at 213 (-3). Georgia Southern's Toshi Hirata and North Carolina's Ted Smith tied for third with a 214 (-2).

The Cavaliers return to action October 20-21 at the Tennessee Tournament of Champions in Knoxville, Tenn.
