UVa Golfers Tied for Sixth at Notre Dame

    Notre Dame, IN - After 36 holes of play the Virginia men's golf team is tied with Vanderbilt for sixth place at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic being held at Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course. The Cavaliers shot rounds of 299 and 305 for a first-day total of 604. Lamar, ranked 23rd, leads the 12-team field at 567. Notre Dame is in second place at 586.

    Virginia's Greg Carlin led the team with a 36-hole score of 9-over 149. Carlin shot 73 in the morning round to help UVa to a team score of 299. He posted a 76 in the afternoon. Carlin enters Tuesday's final round in 18th place.

    Daniel Kefale and Kyle Stough both carded 75s in the afternoon to top the Cavaliers effort in the second round. Kefale is 28th overall at 152 while Stough is tied with Conrad Von Borsig for 38th at 156. Stough shot 81 in the morning while von Borsig posted scores of 74 and 82. Eamonn McLoughlin is in 34th place at 154. He shot 75 and 79.

    Lamar teammates Oliver Bekker and Justin Harding are tied for first place at 2-under 138 on the par-70 course. They are among three Lamar players in the top 10 after the first two rounds of play.
