Johnson City, Tenn. - The 15th-ranked Virginia men’s golf team is in a tie for sixth place after the second day of competition at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Johnson City, Tenn. The Cavaliers shot 5-under 283 on Saturday to stand at 577 after 36 holes. Penn State leads the field at 566.
Junior Derek Bard (New Hartford, N.Y.) posted the tournament’s low round, shooting 6-under 66 to improve to third place overall at 5-under 139. Sophomore Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.), who led UVa in the first round, is in seventh place at 141 after shooting 2-under 70.
Junior Jimmy Stanger (Tampa, Fla.) is in 39nd place at 147 after posting a second round score of 73. Freshman Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) and senior Nick McLaughlin (New Castle, N.H.) are tied for 62nd place at 152. Sophomore Connor Messick (Oak Hill, Va.), who is competing as an individual, is in 77th place at 159.
Charlotte’s Victor Wiggins leads the field in stroke play at 6-under 136.
