Durham, N.C. - The Virginia men's golf team is currently placed 8th in the Duke Golf Classic in Durham on Tuesday.

Duke University and Michigan State lead the field shooting a 582 (+6). Augusta State ranks 3rd with a 584 (+8), while Arizona State follows in fourth with a score of 588 (+12). The Cavaliers finished with a 605 (+29) after the first day of play.

Individually, Duke's Mike Castleforte is currently in the top position with a 136 (-8). Oliver Wilson of Augusta State follows behind by 5 strokes with a 141. Third place carries a tie between Virginia Tech's Bendon De Jonge and Illinois' Patrick Nagle with a score of 142 (-2).

Senior Thomas Lee (Gluttenburg, N.J.), paced Virginia with a 149 (+5), which ties him with three others in 18th position. Senior Justin Goodlue (Glastonbury, Conn,) sits 23rd with a score of 150, holding the spot with three VA Tech golfers.

Freshman Brad Tilley (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Junior Jeremy Luce (Austin, Texas) finished the day in 38th with a 154 (+10), while freshman Eamon McLoughlin (Amityville, N.Y.) shot a 157 (+13).

Virginia will continue play in the Duke Classic on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Duke Golf Club.
