UVA Finishes Eighth at Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate

Alpharetta, Ga. - The Virginia men’s golf team wrapped up its fall season with a solid eighth-place finish at the highly-competitive Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 6-under 282 for the second consecutive day to finish at 15-under 849. Oklahoma State took top honors at 837 in a field that included 13 of the top 50 teams in the latest Golfstat poll.

Sophomore Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) and freshman Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) led Virginia with 12th-place finishes. Massie completed his third round with a team-best score of 4-under 68 for a three-day total of 5-under 211. Walsh fired 70 on Sunday to match that score.

Freshman WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines), who started the day in ninth place, dropped back to 23rd after shooting 74. He finished at 4-under 212 in the first tournament he was a counting player for UVA.

Senior Danny Walker placed 59th at 4-over 220. He posted a final round score of 75. Sophomore Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.) shot 2-under 70 and placed 63rd at 221.
