The lone freshman on the Cavalier roster, the fun-loving Kyle Stough hails from Laurel, Md. He played in three events last fall and will be in the Virginia lineup when the Cavaliers open the spring season at Florida State this weekend. Let's Make the Turn with Kyle Stough:
Question: What is your favorite golf course and why?
Stough: Bushwood Country Club (from the movie Caddyshack), because "there is no betting at Bushwood and I never slice."
Question: Who has influenced your golf game the most?
Stough: My father, he taught me exactly how NOT to play the game.
Question: What is your earliest memory of playing golf?
Stough: Hitting a Sam Snead persimmon 4-wood through my neighbors window when I was about six.
Question: If you could play with any professional, who would it be?
Stough: Roy McAvoy (from the movie Tin Cup), I would love to see him dump five balls in the water and make a 12 on the last hole of the U.S. Open again.
Question: What is the current song/artist you listen to prior to playing?
Stough: Take Me Home Tonight by Eddie Money...I'm all about that 80's rock.
Question: Who has your favorite nickname on the team?
Stough: I kinda like my nickname to be honest...everyone calls me Stoogie.
Question: Most people would be surprised that I....
Stough: am an accomplished ventriloquist as well as a 10th degree yoyo master.
Question: If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Stough: I would definitely trade places with my father. I think it would be interesting to see what I was like when I was growing up.
Question: What class would you like to teach?
Stough: Probably some kind of psychology class. Golf is often referred to as 90 percent mental and 10 percent physical so I could probably manage teaching a psych class.
Question: What is/are your favorite sports team(s)?
Stough: Unfortunately I would have to say the Washington Redskins.
Question: If you could appear in any TV show it would be ....
Stough: The Office...that show is absolutely hilarious.
Question: What is your greatest fear?
Stough: Quicksand...when one thing goes wrong and then another and another and it gets to the point where you feel as if there is no way you can ever recover.
Question: If you could travel back in time, what era would you visit?
Stough: I would go back to when Ben Hogan was in his prime.
Question: If you could have any superpower it would be.
Stough: Would have to say telekinesis...I can imagine that would really help your golf game.
Question: If you could have lunch with any person in the world, who would it be and why?
Stough: The Dalai Lama...so he can tell me what "Gunga la gunga" means.
Question: The one condiment I can't live without...
Stough: Ketchup...by far the best all-around condiment
Question: What is the most embarrassing song on your iPod?
Stough: Britney Spears, "Hit Me Baby One More Time" There are a few Backstreet Boys songs on there and lets not forget the ever-popular middle school dance song O-Town's "All or Nothing at All". Overall my iPod is pretty embarrassing.
Question: What is your most prized possession?
Stough: My Scooby-Doo nightlight
Question: I hate shopping for...
Stough: Anything when a girl comes along...they take forever.
Question: The most exotic place I ever visited was...
Stough: The Bahamas...although not very exotic since I stayed at the Atlantis hotel.
