UVa Golfers Finish Second at Palmetto Intercollegiate

Aiken, SC - The 17th-ranked Virginia men's golf team shot 9-over 289 Tuesday to finish the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in second place with a 54-hole total of 860. Top-ranked Alabama won the 18-team tournament at 849.

The Cavaliers have finished in the top five in all but one of their six tournaments this season.

Virginia was led during the final round by junior Ben Kohles' even par 70. He moved up to 17th overall at 7-over 217. Freshman Ben Rusch was the Cavaliers' top finisher. He shot 72 Tuesday to climb to ninth place at 3-over 213.

Rusch's finish marked the second time this year he has led the team in scoring. He was the runner up last fall at The Ridges.

Senior Amory Davis also carded a 72 during the final round and was 16th at 216. Will Collins was 20th at 218 including a 75 Tuesday and Bruce Woodall shot 77 in the final round to place 32nd at 222.

Alabama's Bud Cauley shot a tournament record 9-under 201 to take medalist honors. He had rounds of 66, 66 and 69.
