Tallahassee, FL - The University of Virginia men's golf team is in first place after the first day of competition at the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club in Tallahassee, Fla. The Cavaliers lead the two-day three round event at the 72, 6869-yard Golden Eagle course with a total two round score of 573. Virginia's Steve Marino leads the tournament after finishing the first day at six-under-par with rounds of 70 and 68, and Rusty Kennedy is tied for third with a score of 143.

The University of North Carolina is second after the first day of competition, 12 strokes off the lead at 585. College of Charleston finished the day in third (587), followed by Alabama-Birmingham (588), and Duke (595).
