UVa Men's Golfers Lead Hackler Championship After 36 Holes

Myrtle Beach, SC - The 17th-ranked Virginia men's golf team has an 11-shot lead following the first two rounds of play at the General Hackler Championship at the TPC of Myrtle Beach. The Cavaliers shot even par 288 during Sunday's morning round to hold a six-shot lead over East Carolina. In the afternoon round Virginia shot 7-over 295 for a 36-hole total of 583. Tennessee and Coastal Carolina are tied for second at 594.

Virginia has a trio of players in the top-10 after the first day of play. Amory Davis had rounds of 69 and 73 to finish the day in second place at 2-under 142. Ben Kohles and Ben Rusch are tied for eighth at 1-over 145. Kohles shot 73 and 72 while Rusch inverted those scores, going 72 and 73.

Bruce Woodall is in 43rd place at 11-over 155. He shot 74 and 81. Will Collins is 49th at 156 after posting rounds of 79 and 77. Mac McLaughlin, playing as a non-scoring individual, is 58th at 158.

Lamar's Kevin Hesbois used a second-round 65 to grab the lead in stroke play at 4-under 140.

The final round of the tournament is scheduled for Monday. Virginia's players will tee off starting at 8:50 a.m.
