Cavalier Golfers Open Play at Schenkel Invitational

Tallahassee, FL The Virginia men’s golf team opened play at the three-day Schenkel E-Z Go Invitational Friday by shooting 8-over 296 to finish the first round in a three-way tie for 11th place in the 18-team field. Tennessee leads the event at 1-under 287. The tournament is taking place at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.

Virginia was led during the opening round by Will Collins’ 1-under 71. He is tied for eighth place overall, two shots behind four players who share the lead at 69.

Conrad Von Borsig turned in UVa’s second-best score at 1-over 73 to finish in 27th place. Kyle Stough is 36th at 74, Ben Kohles is 78th with a 78 and Steven Rojas shot 82 to place 94th.
