UVa Golfers Finish Seventh at River Landing Intercollegiate

Wallace, NC - Senior Will Collins shot 6-under 66 during the final round of play at the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C. to help Virginia to a seventh-place finish. The Cavaliers shot 1-over 289 Saturday and finished the tournament at 6-over 870 in the 14-team field. East Carolina overcame Liberty during the final round to win the event at 23-under 841. Josh Brock of UNC Wilmington captured medalist honors at 15-under 201.

Collins managed to move up to ninth place in the final individual standings at 4-under 212. It marked the eighth time in his career he recorded a top-10 finish.

Bruce Woodall was one shot behind Collins in 11th place at 3-under 213. He bettered his previous career best tournament score of 216 by three strokes. Woodall shot 75 during the final round.

Henry Smart, who was playing as a non-scoring individual, was 27th overall at 219. He shot 74 during Saturday's play.

Amory Davis was 41st at 6-over 222, including a 76 during the final round. Cole Willcox and Mac McLaughlin tied for 59th at 226. Willcox shot 73 over the final 18 holes while McLaughlin posted a score of 75.

The Cavaliers are off until competing at the ACC Championships April 22-24 in New London, N.C. Ben Kohles, the team leader in stroke average who did not play at the River Landing Intercollegiate while resting a sore back, will return to UVa's lineup for the conference championships.
