Wallace, NC The Virginia men’s golf team finished NC State’s River Landing Intercollegiate in eighth place after shooting 4-under 284 during Saturday’s final round. The Cavaliers completed the 54-hole event at 14-over 878. Duke overtook NC State during the final round to win the tournament at 14-under 850.

Virginia saw four golfers Bruce Woodall, Ben Kohles, Kyle Stough and Will Collins shoot 1-under 71 during the final round to post the fourth-best final round team score among the field of 15 schools.

Woodall, a freshman playing in just his second tournament as a scoring player, led UVa with a 13th-place finish at even par 216. His final round 71 equaled his best 18-hole score and his 216 was his best tournament scoring effort.

Kohles, another first-year player, was 36th for the Cavaliers at 220. Kyle Stough was 43rd overall at 222, Will Collins was 53rd at 224 and Conrad Von Borsig, who shot 76 Saturday, was 58th at 226. Amory Davis, playing as a non-scorer, was 74th at 234.

NC State’s Matt Hill took first-place honors at 10-under 206.

The Cavaliers play in the ACC Championships that start Friday in New London, N.C.
